I had actually forgotten Thursday was Thanksgiving. I definitely wasn't going home though. The morning I’d left, I’d just left. I didn't call anyone and let them know. For all they know I’m dead in a ditch somewhere. I’d stopped at a Sprint store outside of D.C. and changed my phone number so they couldn't find me. I was lost on purpose.

“Jenny,” I say and pull her aside. “Is this a dress-up kinda thing?”

Her smile is ear to ear. “Yup. It’s so much fun. Trick decorates the bar with little lights and everyone dresses up and it’s magical.” She sighs. She has a dreamy look in her eyes that only a twenty-five-year-old can have.

“Okay. I’ll need to go shopping.” I say.

“Yes! Shopping! Let’s go Tuesday afternoon.” She squeals with delight.

“Oh…okay.”

“Meet me here at noon. I know the perfect place!” I laugh at her enthusiasm and agree.
